There is no right or wrong way to choose interior art, that's the beauty of it; it's an expression of your style and it's your choice. If you’re not an established art collector, choosing the right pieces can seem a little daunting at first; ultimately you need to trust your gut and buy art you connect with. However, if you need some tips when decorating your abode, see below.

1 Select a piece based on the room you are purchasing it for. For example, the kitchen is the 'heart of the home' the bedroom is seen as 'the retreat', the lounge can be 'your sanctuary'. Whichever room you are purchasing art for, you need to consider which vibe you wish to create, what emotions you want to evoke, and if your art is to compliment that format or take centre stage within your design.

2 Consider your art based purely upon your room's interior design colour palette. This option works for most and particularly for commissioned artworks. You can create a
piece of art perfect for your space, which works with your fabric patterns, colours and the exact design you are wishing to promote.

3 Buy for you and no one else. Buy what makes you feel something and you can connect with.

YOUR DRT
The way you hang your art within a room is equally as important as the purchase. Create a high-end, luxury look with a single piece of artwork, above a large sofa, or above the mantlepiece, for drama. Or consider art in threes (triptych), horizontally or vertically; these work well in offices, studies, large kitchen spaces /living rooms. Two vertical paintings, (duo's) create a modern take on the single-piece artwork, and can be very effective especially with prints and look fab in bathrooms and most living spaces - above the bed is a popular choice at present.
